Ride the Empire Builder Train, Stay & Explore in Glacier NP, Travel on the Going to the Sun Highway | ABS Travel Group

6 wonderful days, 5 exciting nights departing Thursday August 3

Amtrak's Empire Builder takes you on an exciting adventure through majestic wilderness, high prairies, rich agricultural lands and dense conifer forests which typified the topography followed by noted explorers Lewis and Clark.

Sit back and relax as you cross the North Dakota plains and travel over the spectacular Gassman Coulee Trestle. Skirting the Missouri River, you'll cross into the Big Sky country in Montana. About 150 miles northwest of Great Falls, you begin to enter the most mountainous portion of your trip on the eastern border of Glacier Park crossing over the Continental Divide in the process.  The panoramic windows of the Empire Builder's Sightseer Lounge make for the best seats in the house from which to experience the awesome splendor of high mountain peaks, the Flathead River and the wildlife that lives along this corridor.

…And the entire time you can have a sense of the immensity of our great nation and its natural treasurers.

The Empire Builder Train

Glacier National Park
If unparalleled scenery and the opportunity to see the full lineup of wildlife that greeted Lewis and Clark when they swung through Montana way back when is your notion of a great vacation spot, then Glacier is your kind of park.  Named for the rivers of ice that continue to carve its spectacular alpine landscape here, Glacier continually ranks as the most pristine of America's national parks and the one people would most like to revisit. Glacier is home to grizzly bears, wolves, mountain lions, and mountain goats. The same remote quality that makes Glacier hospitable to these solitary species makes it less accessible than other national parks; a visit to Glacier demands a bit more effort (don’t worry, we take care of that!) before it surrenders its charms. But it won't take long for you to discover that this is one of the park system's true gems.

Drive to the Sun
Going-to-the-Sun Road is the marquee drive in Glacier and perhaps the most scenic stretch of tarmac in all of North America. It has been described as a "don't look down" road. It bisects the northern and southern halves of the park, crosses the Continental Divide, and is designated a National Historic Landmark. Be sure to take in the truly awesome views of mountainsides and wildflowers.
And finally….The Medora Musical is a two-hour professionally-produced musical variety show performed in the outdoor Burning Hills Amphitheatre located in the heart of the North Dakota Badlands at Medora.
The Medora Musical offers:

  • Wholesome, family friendly entertainment
  • A mix of modern country, western, gospel and patriotic music
  • A talented cast of singers and dancers from across the US
  • A live band on stage
  • Live horses on stage
  • Nationally known variety acts
  • Historic, patriotic themes dedicated to Theodore Roosevelt
  • Modern conveniences for your comfort
